More than 70 students of the 1st year of Bachillerato received the sacrament of Confirmation last Wednesday in the parish of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes (Las Arenas, Getxo), in a ceremony presided over by the episcopal vicar of the diocese of Bilbao, D. Felix Larrondo, accompanied by family and friends.
At the end of the ceremony, a pupil representing his classmates addressed a few simple words of thanks to the vicar, the parish priest of Our Lady of Mercy and the school for the training received over the years.
The bishop also visited the group of future confirmands the previous week in Gaztelueta. During the colloquium, he stressed to the students the importance of this sacrament and went deeper into its meaning.
