The III edition Remember<\/em> of the historic Vuelta Ciclista de Gaztelueta took place last Saturday with the participation of almost 40 riders on the roads of Bizkaia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this occasion, very young cyclists were encouraged to take part in the race, accompanying more experienced riders in a round that guarantees continuity. Students, former students, teachers and parents gathered in the red square to take the initial photo before the start with the flag being raised by Mr. Jose Luis Pineda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presence of the two youngest runners, Martin Basaras and I\u00f1igo Robles (5thPrim) did not slow down the pace of the race but rather speeded up the pace. In addition, Tanis Arana together with his father Diego 38th-1998, who are already veterans, rode at a very lively pace. Ram\u00f3n Pomar, who with his electric bike at all times controlled that no one was left behind, being even literal support for those who could not on the climbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In front were Borja Bergareche, winner of 4 laps from 1969 to 1973, I\u00f1aki Zabala, winner from 82 to 86 together with his son Ignacio and Ignacio Arbaiza, winner in 1968, although with his friends I\u00f1igo Azcorra and I\u00f1igo Alcibar they took it more slowly. The refreshment and reunification point was the church of Gatika, where Gonzalo \u00c1lvarez de Toledo and Gonzalo Vilallonga were waiting to provide plenty of solids and liquids, and even took a roll call to make sure no one was left behind, with a special mention to alumni Guillermo Bengoa, who despite not having been on a bike for the last 12 years, completed the whole route with great determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The teacher Urkiol Solagaistua who accompanied the 5th year students and Luis Robles, father of one of them, as well as Marcos P\u00e9rez with his brother-in-law Javier went at their own pace, tackling the ascent to Andraka lightly. Rafa Cardenal, a lifelong member of the board of Alumni<\/em>helped everyone on the climb. Agust\u00edn Fern\u00e1ndez, the most electric of the group, defined himself as the bulk of the peloton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pepe Zayas, also member of the board Alumni <\/em>came along with two companions, I\u00f1igo Olaizola and Adrian. Fernando Bascones didn't think it was enough and continued riding for most of the morning. Daniel Ortega, Javier Bores and Bosco Olabarri, who redesigned the route for the return of this Gaztelueta classic, rode without any problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On arrival at Gaztelueta, some family members were waiting for us with a snack and all the participants received a prize. All the participants are already looking forward to the next edition of this already consolidated event. Remember<\/em> the Vuelta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
