Next to the stadium, a 1km circuit was created on which the electric vehicles built for the occasion competed in a race where the endurance of the cars and the duration of their batteries were rewarded. The event was sponsored by <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/kidskitcar.org\/kidskitcar\" title=\"Greenpower Iberia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greenpower Iberia<\/a> and Bridgestone.<\/p>\n<p>The drivers, divided into two categories (11 to 16 years old and up to 25 years old), had designed their electric cars with\u00a0<strong>recycled and low environmental impact materials<\/strong>The educational and innovative initiative led from its very beginnings in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gaztelueta.com\/es\/noticias\/carrera-de-coches-electricos-por-la-gran-de-bilbao\" title=\"Electric car race in Bilbao\">FIRST RACES<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0by Gaztelueta is a clear commitment to a sustainable future and mobility that is repeated in this electric car race in San Mam\u00e9s. From this year onwards, primary school pupils will have<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gaztelueta.com\/es\/noticias\/science-subject-becomes-greenpower-primary\" title=\"greenpower course at Gaztelueta\"> a subject where it is developed exclusively<\/a> the Greenpower project.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-embed-field-responsive-video form-group\"><iframe width=\"854\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JUeorslIOQ4?autoplay=0&amp;start=0&amp;rel=0\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Through their heads of mobility, Alfonso Gil and Miguel \u00c1ngel G\u00f3mez Viar respectively, both Bilbao City Council and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, wanted to show their support for this initiative where sustainability and energy efficiency had a prize.<\/p>\n<p>The teams of <strong>GPZ Evo Plus of the Somorrostro Training Centre (F24)<\/strong>\u00a0y\u00a0<strong>Lastra Racing of IES S\u00e1nchez Lastra (F24+)<\/strong>\u00a0emerged as winners among the teams from schools such as the Instituto Superior T\u00e9cnico de Lisboa, Madre de Dios school; IES Sanchez Lastra; Lauxeta Ikastola; Jesuitinas and Centro de Formaci\u00f3n Somorrostro.
