Gaztelueta is a charter school of differentiated instruction located in Leioa (Bizkaia) which was founded in 1951 as a result of the concern and social initiative of a group of parents who wanted their children to receive an education centred on individual treatment, respect for freedom and the promotion of personal responsibility, as well as a Christian sense of life.

Milestones and traditions
1951
The beginning!
The beginning! October 15th, 1951, inauguration of the school was
celebrated. Classes started the next day. There were 63 students enrolled.
1953
Sports party
In May, with the assistance of the families, various games and trials are held after the football final between the Nécora and Halcón teams. Trophies are handed out and the I Exhibition of the Painting Club is organized.
1957
First promotion
The first promotion of Gaztelueta finishes its studies.
1961
Night School
Night school. Gaztelueta becomes the first authorised private centre to offer studies and examinations to young people who extend their studies at the end of the working day, from 7 to 10 at night.
1963
Handball
Gaztelueta's handball team plays in the Honor Division.
1965
The choir
In 1965 the Gaztelueta Choir, with eighty voices, which started years earlier, represented Spain in the International Choir Competition held in Vienna.
1972
St. Josemaría visits the school
On October 11th and 12th, 1972, St. Josemaría attended two large gatherings with parents, teachers, and students.
1977
Afternoon Studies Section
BUP, REM and A Level studies.
1990
Cambridge Examination Centre
Gaztelueta is recognised as an examination centre for English language courses at the British university, so that students no longer have to leave the centre to take the exams.
1994
Alumni
In 1994 the Alumni Association was established. About 200 former students and teachers meet at the general assembly, which takes place at the school in May.
2004
Nursery
With the incorporation of the Infant Education Centre, schooling in Gaztelueta is completed from 1 to 17 years of age.
2017
Greenpower
Gaztelueta joins the Greenpower project, which helps students to work as a team and develop STEAM skills through the construction of electric and ecological cars with which they then compete.

Gaztelueta is a corporate work of Opus Dei, which is exclusively responsible for
Christian orientation. Religious activities are organized for students, teachers
and parents who wish to do so, always on a voluntary basis.
